The staff is a multi-disciplinary treatment team of health and mental health professionals dedicated to serving our campus community. Counseling interns from collaborating universities are also key members of the clinical team.
The Center also employs student workers to assist with clerical duties. Student workers have limited access to patient information. All team members sign a confidentiality agreement for their roles in serving students.
Marian Dinny, BSN, RN

Campus Nurse
Marian earned a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Manipal College of Nursing in Karnataka, India. She is a patient advocate and educator specializing in Neuroscience Nursing and Pain Management. Having served in various clinical roles, Marian is excited to embark on a new journey in college health to serve the diverse student population of Â鶹ÊÓƵ. She is passionate about helping students navigate the intricate health system as they explore their independence in a supportive environment. She believes prevention is the best medicine and that by listening and sharing experiences we can together strive to meet the needs of our distinct student population to promote their overall health and wellness. Marian’s volunteer work includes serving underprivileged children in the foster care system. She relishes nature, is an avid organic gardener, delights in growing her own food in her backyard, and greatly enjoys spending time with her family.

Health Services Clinical Supervisor / Nurse Practitioner
Katherine earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Loyola University Chicago. She is a Â鶹ÊÓƵ alumna earning her M.S.N. Family Nurse Practitioner degree here and is pleased to be returning to care for the student community. Katherine has 9 years of hospital experience and has taken care of patients of all ages, from newborns to older adults. She is an Adjunct Professor here at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, teaching in the College of Nursing. Katherine is passionate about serving the Â鶹ÊÓƵ community and partnering with students to achieve their health and wellness goals. She is a patient advocate and believes it is her job to listen and provide the best care possible. Katherine is an ally of the LGBTQIAP+ community and social justice advocate. Katherine has a holistic approach to care with a special interest in health promotion and disease prevention. As such, she believes it is important for every student to have a primary healthcare provider and is pleased to support students find a local provider in the community. In her free time, Katherine enjoys exercise, music, and spending time with family and friends.

Mental Health Counselor
Christi serves as a Mental Health Counselor at the Wellness Center. In her work with students, Christi values facilitating a compassionate, nonjudgmental, and supportive environment for her student clients to heal and grow. She primarily draws from attachment based, client-centered, cognitive behavioral, and compassion focused counseling approaches. Believing that we all have inherent worthiness of love, she values journeying with students to discover and live from greater truth, freedom, belonging, and healing. Christi has her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wheaton College and her background in nonprofit international work in the Middle East and North Africa. She has experience working with students with a variety of mental health concerns and specializes in helping students navigate areas such as grief/loss, depression, self-esteem, trauma, and anxiety. She counts it an honor to walk alongside students she serves at Â鶹ÊÓƵ U.
Eduardo Castillo, MS, MA, LPC

Mental Health Counselor
Eduardo is pleased to return to Â鶹ÊÓƵ U as a Mental Health Counselor. He previously served as a Clinical Counseling Intern in 2020/21 while completing his graduate work. Eduardo is an English/Spanish bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). He earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and his master's degree in both Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Sport and Human Performance from Adler University. This dual focus has developed Eduardo's competency to work with professional, elite, and novice athletes. He supports clients with integrated cognitive, behavioral, humanistic and motivational approaches. Eduardo specializes in working with adults and adolescents struggling with depression, anxiety, grief and bereavement, emotional dysregulation, and academic stress. He also provides psychological skills training to teams, coaches, and individual athletes to help them manage mental health and maximize their performance. Eduardo meets clients where they are in their sport and identity development, facilitating their growth as both an athlete and an individual.

Clinical Care Coordinator/Mental Health Counselor
Ashley is a Clinical Care Coordinator and Mental Health Counselor at the Student Wellness Center supporting students to get connected to services and resources for their mental health and wellbeing as well as offering counseling therapy. She received her B.A. in Psychology and Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Children and Adolescent therapies from Â鶹ÊÓƵ. Ashley served the local community for 5+ years in private practice focusing on supporting suicidal and high-risk 2SLGBTQIA+ youth and adults. Now back at Â鶹ÊÓƵ U as an alumna, Ashley will be working in collaboration with the Office of the Dean of Students to support the Â鶹ÊÓƵ' SAMHSA Suicide Prevention grant goals to bring education and awareness to students, faculty, and staff. Ashley meets students where they are at in her therapeutic approach to bring wellness to the whole self through exploration and processing of identity, trauma, self-esteem, and interpersonal relationships. Ashley collaborates with students to foster growth and empowerment to navigate the institutions and systems impacting young adults as they build their futures through Existential, Attachment, and Humanistic theories and interventions. Ashley is excited to uniquely serve Â鶹ÊÓƵ through advocacy, suicide public health awareness, and by fostering a caring and educated community on campus. Outside of counseling and advocacy work, Ashley enjoys reading, playing D&D with friends, and petting dogs.

Student Wellness Coordinator / Mental Health Counselor
Franky is a Mental Health Counselor at the Student Wellness Center. She received her B.A in Psychology from Â鶹ÊÓƵ and a M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler University and this alumna is pleased to serve the Â鶹ÊÓƵ community. Franky focuses on challenges students are currently facing and views past events as opportunity for insight and positive growth and change. She works collaboratively with students to explore how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence themselves and those around them; in addition to creating strategies to help students reach their goals. Franky demonstrates unconditional positive regard, support and compassion for all students. She believes each student has the potential to find meaning and purpose in all areas of their lives. Franky has completed a comprehensive training in complex trauma and is a certified trauma professional. She works with students to help navigate and alleviate adverse psychological, emotional and physical effects of trauma. Franky is an ally of the LGBTQIAP+ community as well as an advocate for social justice in her work with individuals and within systems.

Clinical Coordinator / Mental Health Counselor
Tracy is excited to be a part of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ community. A counselor for over 20 years, Tracy has served in community mental health settings as she values supporting the needs of a diverse community. She is honored to be working with Â鶹ÊÓƵ students to provide support regarding concerns related to feelings, stress, relationships, and day-to-day functioning and decision making. Tracy partners with students in addressing areas such as depression or anxiety symptoms, grief/loss, and relational, cultural and spiritual concerns. Her approach to counseling integrates strengths focus and skill building with methods that are insight-oriented and meaning-based. She desires to help students understand the underlying meaning and reasons for feelings and behaviors. An advocate for networking and community, Tracy also values personal connection, support and resources for each student. Tracy earned her MA in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College and received her undergrad degree at University of Oklahoma. Tracy enjoys photography with favorites being nature and candid shots. She also enjoys volleyball, OU football (most of the time), and volunteering in the community.

Office Coordinator
As the Office Coordinator, Sarah works to make sure all aspects of the Student Wellness Center run effortlessly. She received a dual Associates Degree from Joliet Junior College in Marketing Management & Management and Supervision and plans to enroll with Â鶹ÊÓƵ to obtain a Bachelors Degree in the Psychology field. Sarah has previous experience working on social, emotional, and behavioral learning with adolescents. She enjoys connecting students with the necessary health and counseling services the wellness center provides and believes her experience will benefit them and their goals. In her free time, Sarah enjoys time with family and friends, specifically her children’s sports and extracurricular activities.
Jill Whitaker, MS, LCPC

Director / Mental Health Counselor
Jill is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and has been working in the human service field since 1998. She completed her bachelor's degree in Psychology and English Literature at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and earned her M.S. in Counseling at National Louis University in Chicago. Jill has worked in a variety of community-based agency and school settings providing counseling services and in leadership, supervision, and program management roles. To promote student wellbeing, Jill encourages holistic care, the integration of mind/body, and effective best practices and collaboration among the Center team and within the Â鶹ÊÓƵ community. With significant experience in offering crisis intervention and supporting survivors of trauma and loss, Jill affirms the uniqueness of each individual student and is dedicated to fostering their self-compassion, resilience, and potential. She applies motivational and interpersonal strategies with students to encourage positive development of self-awareness and esteem, strengths and support systems. Jill enjoys music and the arts, gardening, staying active and new cultural experiences.

Clinical Counseling Intern
Erin is a Clinical Counseling Intern at the Student Wellness Center. She earned her B.A. from Elmhurst University and is currently pursuing a dual Master's degrees in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, and Sport and Human Performance at Adler University. Prior to joining us here at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, she interned as a Mental Performance Consultant at another University, where she worked with various teams, and individual athletes to enhance the mental aspect of their game. Erin believes every person comes with a diverse set of strengths, experiences, and challenges that are unique to them. As such, her clinical perspective is grounded in cognitive-behavioral, person centered, and existential theories. She is passionate about the collegiate population and looks forward to being a resource for those at Â鶹ÊÓƵ and an advocate for social justice. In her free time, she enjoys watching sports, lifting, seeing family and friends, and being outdoors.

Clinical Counseling Intern
David is a Clinical Counseling Intern at the Student Wellness Center. He is pursuing his M.A. in Counseling Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. He received her B.A. in Psychology with a minor in History from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale. He has a background in case management working with individuals who were homeless or living with serious mental illnesses helping these individuals transition back into the community. David views college as an opportunity to receive support through counseling—especially those who have never had the experience to take the first step. His goal is to create a space that is welcoming and accepting to students from all walks of life. Outside of his work, David enjoys listening to audiobooks, cooking, and traveling.

Hanna received her Bachelor of Science (BS) in Interdisciplinary Health from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After graduating college, she spent several years working for nonprofit health and counseling agencies serving diverse underprivileged populations. Hanna greatly appreciated her experiences in health and human services, where she learned the power of presence and compassion to care for those in need. She believes that listening and validation is the path to healing and that empathy connects us most. Hanna has a heart for helping others and is eager to connect students to care that will assist them to find meaning and purpose in the midst of their challenges. Currently pursuing a Master of Arts in School Counseling, she hopes to continue developing her diverse skills to reach young people more effectively. Hanna is excited to be back on a vibrant college campus in the role of Graduate Assistant collaborating with like-minded people to support students as they navigate through life's joys and stresses. When not studying, you can find her coaching high school cross country (she loves running!), exploring new forest preserves to hike, or relaxing in the sunroom.
Kayla Deubel

Graduate Assistant
Kayla earned her Bachelor of Science in Child Development with a minor in Biology, from Olivet Nazarene University, while competitively swimming for the ONU team. In addition to being a student-athlete, she served in leadership positions for the Kappa Delta Rho Chapter of Kappa Omicron Nu and the Child Development Student Association. On campus, Kayla also enjoyed working as a peer-tutor in the Education department and as a teaching assistant in the Biology department. These roles supported excellence in community involvement, professional development, volunteer opportunities, and building campus connections. Now, she is a graduate student at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, in the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (MSSLP) program. After completing the MSSLP program, Kayla can serve as a helping professional by caring for children and their families as it relates to working through speech difficulties and everyday communication. She values leading with compassion by meeting each individual where they are and modeling patience, kindness, and respect. While working toward her degree, Kayla is honored to join the Â鶹ÊÓƵ community as a Graduate Assistant in the Student Wellness Center. She is excited to support campus outreach programs, partner with the clinical staff, and help connect students to the resources available at Â鶹ÊÓƵ. In her free time, Kayla enjoys spending time outside, meeting up with friends, teaching swim lessons, reading, and baking!
